SECURED contributes to new RUSI edited collection

On 2 July, the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) published New Thinking on UK Cyber Effects, an edited collection from the UK Cyber Effects Network (UKCEN).

UKCEN is a collaboration between RUSI and the UK National Cyber Force (NCF).

The collection brings together a range of practitioner and academic voices to explore how the UK conceptualises and executes cyber effects operations within its broader strategic culture.

As part of this collection, SECURED’s Head of Research, Dr Neil Ashdown, contributed a chapter examining the theoretical and historical foundations of this debate.

His analysis argues for a more grounded, historically informed approach to UK cyber strategy, emphasising the importance of aligning the UK’s operational frameworks with its distinct context and strategic strengths.

You can read more about the collection and UKCEN on the RUSI website.

Dr Ashdown’s chapter - The UK Approach to Cyber Conflict in Theory and Practice - can be read here.
